  • Workshop
    • Based on responses from eleven potential participants, we chose Thursday-Friday, 22-23 May for the workshop.
    • Need to contact all those who responded favorably regarding their intent to come to the workshop [Action: Con, Completed]
    • Need to block Torg 3180 for these dates [Action: Con, Completed]
    • Need to make lodging arrangements with Donaldson-Brown [Action: Con, Completed]
  • Meeting at CHI
    • John Gersch suggested we get together at CHI. Based on Jack's schedule, it looks like the best opportunity for this will be lunch on Thursday
    • Con to contact all interested in the project to see if they will be at CHI and if they will join us for lunch [Action: Con, Completed]
    • Con to scout out a place to meet and post messages at the CHI message board for each interested participant [Action: Con, Completed]
    • What to discuss at the luncheon?
      • Motivate the use of case studies. We know everyone we are working with are using the text, but we don't know if they are using case studies as pedagogy
      • Share what we have been doing with case studies
      • Get their reactions and inputs
      • See if anyone knows of real-world cases we can add to the library

  • Case Study Contributors
    • We discussed several ideas for possible sources of case study material
    • Tapped In
      • Jonathan and Mary Beth plan to meet Monday to discuss methods for transferring newly available material into the existing case
    • Vritually Better
      • No response to several queries. We will give up on this one for now.
    • CHI 2003
      • All of us are going to CHI. We should keep our eyes open for software companies that may have a SBD story to tell as a case study [Action: ALL, Completed with no reportable results]
    • RoomWare
      • Jack to e-mail Norbert Streiz regarding RoomWare [Action: Jack]
    • Artificial Life
      • Mary Beth to look at company information to see if we know any of the Artificial Life principals; make contact if possible [Action: Mary Beth]
    • Computer Games
      • There may be interesting SBD stories in the world of computer games
      • Jack to check for possible game contacts (via student in 4764) [Action: Jack, Status: Write-off (see 2003.05.09)]
    • Biometrics
      • Jonathan to research biometrics companies such as Siemens [Action: Jonathan]
    • Virtual Environments for Training
      • Jack to e-mail his contacts in the training world regarding virtual environments for training [Action: Jack]
      • Mary Beth to contact Debbie Hix regarding virtual environments for training [Action: Mary Beth, Status: Write-off (see 2003.05.09)]
  • CoWeb
    • The exemplar site Mary Beth mentioned last time is the Buffalo site of the Center for Case Based Teaching
  • Literature Review
    • At Jack's request, Con has started a web page to collect information for a literature review
    • This should lead to a review paper on the state of the art in case-based learning (in general)
    • It should also set the ground for the overall project and the workshop
    • Need to flesh out the outline to include delivery issues
    • Con to take the lead in writing a literature review paper on case-based learning [Action: Con]
  • CS 3724 Surveys
    • Generated two self-efficacy questions for the homework #10 survey
    • Con to create survey and pass link to Jack [Action: Con, Completed]
