BDB(Berkeley DB) is an open source embedded database library that provides scalable, high-performance, transaction-protected data management services to applications. It provides up to four separate API libraries for data access and management: the base C API Berkeley DB library, and the optional C++, Java, and Tcl API libraries. It runs under almost all UNIX and Linux variants, Windows, and a number of embedded real-time operating systems. See http://www.sleepycat.com/docs/index.html for more information.
