In our planned implementation the concept map view provides essentially a directed graph view organization of our documents. The timeline provides a vertial linear organization of our documents with time in the horizontal.
Issues:
If we end up with a large number of nodes, the timeline could become a long scrolled list.
If document items get added to the timeline as nodes are created, the timeline list order may have no relation to the graph.
If we assign dates to nodes/documents how should they appear on the timeline?
Should the timeline labels and the node labels be the same?
Where do we open old versions of documents? In a separate window, in the same space where documents for selected nodes go?
Ideas:
Scroll to and/or highlight document for selected node on timeline. maybe conversely select node for a selected individual timeline.
The timeline document list could organize documents for linear operations such as printing the entire project (are there other operations?).
